The Frumpy and the Fabulous – Your New Identity as a Mum

Whether you’re thinking about being a full time stay at home Mum, returning to full time paid work, or something in between, it is likely that you will spend at least the first few months at home as your baby’s primary caregiver.  This means you’re the boss, which may be a welcome change.  Unfortunately, it probably also means you are the cook, housecleaner, taxi driver, administrative assistant, and waste management specialist (aka chief nappy changer).  Oh, and the milkwoman!

Regardless of your choices around work and home, becoming a mother often means a massive and deeply personal reassessment of your identity. Some of us may have had an inkling this was coming, for others it comes out of the blue.  Either way it’s often bigger and harder than we ever expected!

Over the coming weeks we’ll be discussing a range of topics including:

  • Who am I now?
  • The elusive super hero…Super Mum!
  • Who’s standards do you strive for?
  • Your personality
  • The art of conversation
  • Friends who don’t get it
  • Your post baby body
  • Considerations around going back to the rat race
